Jason Abalos, local hero

Saving lives is part of his daily routine - He is a firefighter with Jacksonville Fire & Emergency Services, Fire Station One. At 34 years old, Jason is fun loving, hardworking and a devoted father and husband

Surgery - In 2008 Jason had a seizure and doctors discovered a grade 2 astrocytoma tumor in his brain. He was now fighting for his own life. He underwent Surgery. The surgeon was not able to get all of the tumor. Thankfully frequent chemotherapy treatments were able to keep the tumor at bay, until recently.

Emergency Surgery - At a routine biopsy appointment, doctors found that the tumor had grown in a short period of time causing severe pressure on Jason's brain. He underwent emergency surgery this past August (2015). Doctors believe the surgery went well, although Jason did suffer a stroke which has left him with visual impairment.

Emotional Roller Coaster & Request for Prayer - Through this journey of trauma, surgery & pain, Jason has remained positive. His family and friends continue to pray and ask any who learns of Jason's story to please pray for his recovery.
